It doesn’t rain often in St. Croix – especially the East End where SolMates St. Croix is located – but when it does, it’s usually a welcome passing shower. Maybe a couple of days a year, we actually have a “rainy day.” From our perch on SolMates’ pool deck, the viewing of these storms can be dramatic!
But it can also be fun to watch the storm from a beach bar, and share the excitement with other people. We made some new friends right down the hill at the Divi Carina Bay Resort bar while sheltered from the rain. Rum Runners http://www.rumrunnersstcroix.com (located right on the Christiansted Boardwalk) is also a great place to see the storm come in, right at sea level.
If you’re caught in the rain while exploring the island, EAT at Cane Bay is a great place to sit, rain or shine, to watch the scenery while having a Lime in da Coconut. The new owners have extended the bar area, so there’s lots of room to face the beach.
Where’s your favorite place to watch a storm go by?
